According to the latest financial report from Take-Two Interactive, since the launch of Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) at the end of 2013, Rockstar Games has earned over $9 billion from the Grand Theft Auto series. From the fourth quarter of 2013 to the end of March 2024, the cumulative revenue of the GTA series has reached $9.12 billion. This revenue includes sales from GTA 5 across three generations of consoles, the 2020 re-release of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, in-game purchases from GTA Online, and sales from other games in the series. As of May 17, 2024, GTA 5 has sold over 200 million copies globally. By August 2023, 185 million copies had been shipped, meaning an additional 20 million copies were sold in just nine months, averaging 5 million sales every three months.
