ASUS Zenwatch 2 Review: Gets It Somewhat Right, the Second Time!

Smartwatches and wearables have been a growing market for some time. They solve the problem of constantly having to look at your phone in order to be updated on what’s new. And today we are going to talk about one such smart solution i.e. the ASUS Zenwatch 2.

There are a lot of great contenders in the space. A few of the best smartwatches are the ones from Motorola, ASUS, and a few others. Wearables like the Xiaomi Mi band 2 etc. are also doing great and working towards bringing cost-effective wearable technology to the masses.

ASUS Zenwatch 2 Specifications

So now let’s talk about the specifications of the ASUS Zenwatch 2. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with a processor clocked in at 1.2 Ghz and comes with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of onboard eMMC flash storage.

It has got a 1.45-inch AMOLED display with a display resolution of 280×280 pixels. It has a 273 PPI touch display and the dial is rectangle-shaped. The top is covered by a 2.5D curved lens made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It’s IP 67 water-resistant and comes with a stainless steel case.

The model of the Zenwatch 2 that we reviewed was the WI502Q one and it didn’t have internal speakers which is one of its greatest cons. It’s got a built-in microphone and a 300 mAh battery.

It comes with Bluetooth 4.1, Wifi connectivity, and a 6-axis accelerometer + gyroscope sensor.

Talking about the software on this device, it comes with the Android Wear platform and you get the option to change the dials to custom watch faces and you can even design your own ones. The smart assistant on this watch supports simple touch commands or voice commands.

The battery life for this watch lasted me around 1 day complete with the “Always On” screen mode turned off and WiFi too turned off at many points of time. If you switch on a lot of services then the battery on this watch doesn’t last that long.

Overall it’s a good functional smartwatch that gets a lot of things done right. It has a built pedometer and can assist you in your fitness goals as well. Watch our video to know more about this product!
