Meizu MX5 specifications and price in India, overview

Let’s welcome another new Chinese entrant in the smartphone market! Meizu MX5 was launched on August 26th by Meizu at a recent event in Delhi. With a super-fast battery charging and a fingerprint scanner, the device will be available exclusively at Snapdeal for a price of INR 19,999 only. As a new entrant, the company has now opened up 40 service centers for its devices too. Let’s see what other things Meizu MX5 has in store for you.

Design and Display on the Meizu MX5

MX5 comes in a sturdy metal body with a plastic finish back cover. The front side of the phone consists of a home button which is designed to enable single handed operations also. The exclusive thing about home button is that it also acts like a finger scanner to lock or unlock your device. You can tap it once and it acts like a back button and if you physically press it twice then it acts like a home button and this is a pretty novel functionality. There’s a front camera along with the phone speaker on the top side and at the back side there’s the main camera with a flash. The overall design of MX5 is pretty simple with only one Meizu logo at the lower back side of the phone.

MX5 comes with 5.5 inch HD display made up of 1080×1920 pixels. The display is super AMOLED protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The company also specified on the event that it has adapted the design of Samsung Galaxy S6 and display contrast is 10,000:1 which is higher than Xiaomi Mi Note.

Software and performance:

As far as software is concerned, MX5 is loaded with Media Tek’s recent processor, 64 bit Helio X10 octa-core processor. As fancy as the name is, great performance can be expected out of the device. The MX5 has 2.2.GhZ 8 core processor and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It has dual sim functionality, both slots supporting 4G connectivity.

The available RAM is 3 GB at storage in two variants, 16 GB and 64 GB. 64 GB variant will be launched later this year. There is no memory card expansion option available that’s why 64 GB variant is also devised by MX5.

Battery and connectivity:

Another selling point of Meizu MX5 is the super fast charging facility, thanks to the mCharge technology of Meizu. The charger can charge the battery up to 50% in just 30 minutes. Battery size is of 3150mAh, which can last pretty long even if you cheat on excess music and internet surfing.

Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G LTE (with support for 4G bands in India), 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, Glonass, and Micro-USB.

Camera on the Meizu MX5:

The camera is like a cherry on top for MX5. It comes with 20.7 MP main camera, something which any other competent does not have! The main camera comes with Sony IMX220 Exmor RS BSI sensor which avoids pixelation up to 90%! Also, there’s dual flash to light up your clicks. The video quality that can be recorded is the 4K resolution. The front camera doesn’t have that much of an appeal. It comes at 5 MP with basic feature of f/2.0 aperture. Other features include geo-tagging, face detection, smile and click etc.
