The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G has been crowned the fastest 5G phone for download speeds, in tests alongside other 5G devices available on the market by RootMetrics, the industry standard for real-world, independent network testing.
The research took place on the EE network in early June in the UK’s capital, London, on the four devices available on 5G including the 7 Pro 5G, Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, LG V50 5G and Oppo Reno 5G.
Stationary testing for baseline took place in St.Paul’s, while areas like City of London, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster and South Bank and Covent Garden and Soho were also included.
OnePlus achieved peak speed of nearly 700Mbps, while Samsung’s Galaxy S10 5G capped out at just under 550Mbps. LG and Oppo achieved a similar result, both sitting at around 600Mbps.
“OnePlus prides itself on a fast and smooth experience, and these results demonstrate we have delivered a best in class 5G product for our users,”
commented CEO and founder of OnePlus, Pete Lau.
Craig, who recently joined the OnePlus community when he took out a OnePlus 7 Pro 5G on contract says
“My phone is ridiculously quick, like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I couldn’t imagine going back now. A friend told me about his OnePlus 6T and I was instantly drawn to what they were offering.”

5G Innovation
OnePlus engineers faced a number of challenges in designing the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. One of the biggest was with the 5G antennae – trying to balance size and performance. Vendor components were too thick, and using them would have meant that the 7 Pro 5G was a lot thicker than the regular edition device.
Instead of compromising, our engineers designed their own antennae, which were better suited to the famous OnePlus design philosophy – combining form with function, enabling the sleek profile of the handset without losing any performance.
