The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip is priced at $240, reflecting a 20.7% price increase, driven by advanced tech and new manufacturing processes.
On September 8, blogger @i Ice Universe shared that the price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip has reached $240, reflecting a 20.68% increase.
This marks another instance of reported price hikes for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, with speculation in July by Yogesh Brar predicting a price range of $220 to $240, compared to $190 to $200 for the third-generation Snapdragon 8 chip.
Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor is expected to use TSMC’s 3-nanometer “N3E” process, and Qualcomm is shifting to its self-developed Oryon cores instead of the ARM CPU cores used in previous models.
This transition has led to increased production costs, prompting Qualcomm to raise the chip’s price to offset these expenses.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is set to be officially unveiled at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2024, scheduled for October 21-23.
The event will also showcase the latest Android flagship devices incorporating this new chip.
Notably, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series is also expected to feature Qualcomm chips, marking a shift from previous years.
