According to reports on September 24, TikTok announced that it would discontinue its music streaming service, TikTok Music, on November 28, 2024.
After this date, users will no longer be able to access TikTok Music, including login, subscription, and all other features. All user accounts and personal data will be automatically deleted once the service is closed.
ByteDance has officially abandoned its music streaming goals, with TikTok Music set to cease operations on November 28.
TikTok stated that it will no longer compete with other music streaming platforms. Instead, the company will guide users to other services using the “Add to Music App” feature.
This feature, introduced last year, allows users to save songs they discover on TikTok directly to playlists on partner platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
The closure of TikTok Music marks a failed effort by ByteDance to turn TikTok’s vast user base and music-driven content into a successful streaming service.
While TikTok has been instrumental in promoting hit songs and new artists, the platform has also faced challenges, including disputes with record labels over higher royalty demands.
TikTok Music was initially launched in 2019 under the name Resso. The app was available in countries such as Brazil, Indonesia, Australia, Mexico, and Singapore.
