On August 26, it was reported that as “Half-Life 2” approaches its 20th anniversary, news has emerged suggesting Valve is working on two new “Half-Life” games. The information was shared by whistleblower Tyler McVicker in his latest video.
According to McVicker, Valve is developing a traditional PC-based “Half-Life” game, where players will once again take on the role of Gordon Freeman using a mouse and keyboard.
Simultaneously, Valve is also working on a VR “Half-Life” game, likely tailored for their upcoming Deckard VR headset, where players will play as Alyx Vance. The most intriguing part is that both games are expected to support cooperative gameplay, allowing players to experience new “Half-Life” adventures together.
Valve has previously showcased the potential of VR with the Index VR headset and “Half-Life: Alyx.” McVicker also mentioned rumors of an asymmetric multiplayer mode, where one player uses a VR headset to play as Alyx, while another uses a PC to control Gordon Freeman.
As these projects develop, we anticipate more updates throughout the year, with the hope that 2025 might finally bring the release of “Half-Life 3.”
