Chinese Tech Giant Xiaomi Is Making Headlines Once Again

The Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, which is well-known for its smartphones, produces varieties of products ranging from toothbrushes to smartwatches. Now the company has set its eyes on the electric vehicle market.

Lately, Xiaomi has been collaborating with various manufacturers to produce its own vehicle. Now, a Chinese blogger leaked pictures of a heavily dressed engineering test prototype of the Xiaomi car

One of the most notable features of the vehicle is its front, which is longer than that of most pure electric platform models, and the lidar of the car is likely to adopt a watchtower-style layout. Bloggers speculated that Xiaomi may opt for a dual power layout of pure electric power and plug-in hybrid and extended range power version.

Since it is an engineering sample, nothing can be said now. However, the speculation is that they will equip the vehicle with a large-size screen to create a technological atmosphere inside the vehicle.

On February 14, when the media reported, Xiaomi was close to gaining the eligibility to produce new energy vehicles. In response, Xiaomi said that it would not comment on this.

According to the Securities Times, the national financial newspaper in China said,
“I haven’t got the car-making qualification, and it’s impossible to get it right away.” It’s not something that can be done in a day or two, but in a year or two, and it’s still far from getting the qualification.”

In November 2022, Xiaomi officially denied the rumours that Xiaomi’s car manufacturing progress was not as good as expected. On January 17 last month, another car blogger released two photos of Xiaomi cars on the ice and snow.

Further, he revealed that Lei Jun, who is the CEO of Xiaomi, was testing Xiaomi cars. This suggests that they are already doing extreme cold tests before mass production.

Xiaomi is officially going to mass-produce its cars in the first half of 2024. February 9, which is the Xiaomi Investor Day, Lei Jun declared,
“Xiaomi will strive to enter the top five in the world in 15-20 years.”
